What makes it so difficult?
What makes it so difficult?
Start and scale in the world’s largest app market
The largest market but one of the most difficult to enter
And also one of the most difficult markets to enter.
What makes it so difficult?

No License, No Launch
Most apps need ICP filing, software copyright and sector licenses. IAP games also need an NPPA ISBN and a local publisher. Android stores require a Chinese entity or agent.
Fragmented Distribution
No Google Play. Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and Tencent each have separate review, SDK and promotion rules. Much of the revenue sits outside Western tracking tools.
Localization Means Redesign
Translation isn't enough. UI, art, onboarding, payments and events must fit Chinese player norms. Chinese keyword landscapes are about 2.8× larger, so translated ASO doesn't hold up.
Stricter Ads, Pricier Auctions
Apple Ads in China adds entity, industry and creative review, and loot-box visuals are restricted. Domestic RPG and strategy publishers push CPAs beyond what most casual titles can afford.
